Source : Spiritual Emergency, pp. 13 et seq ; The Stormy Search for the Self, chap. 4. The notion of Spiritual Emergency refers to critical forms of spiritual emergence - they are also called "transformational crises". There is some overlap with the three main categories of "non-ordinary states" - i.e., biographical, etc., however the 10 Forms may pertain to more than one of the 3 Categories. This typology is very close to the one proposed by Yaden & Newberg (2022), although it includes energetic experiences and excludes experiences of god. This version is somewhat syncretic and idiosyncratic, more so than Yaden and Newberg's typology.
